Nina Stromqvist, 2005
In her 2005 work, Stromqvist shifted her focus inside to explore the landscape of her own domestic environment. For a period of six months she photographed her own bedroom at different times of the day. The selected photos create a narrative which explores solitude and the beauty in the overlooked.
About Nina Stromqvist
Nina Stromqvist is an artist, writer and curator. In 2012, she co-curated the Safari 2012 event, a fringe event showcasing Australia's emerging artists.
In her own art practice, Nina Stromqvist creates landscapes which celebrate the ambiguous over the rational in the every day. Uniting what is real and what is imagined, she anchors her images in reality by drawing from familiar scenes, carefully distilling, cropping and ordering her photographic fragments in the composition of a larger narrative.
