Dissolve - Rooftop Pacific Hwy IV

Annamarie Dzendrowskyj, 2011

This work is a continuation of a series of paintings shown at Artereal Gallery in 2012.

Annamarie Dzendrowskyj’s paintings are an investigation into the indeterminate nature of ‘ways of seeing’ and ‘ways of being.’ They could be metaphors for states of mind as much as they are specific sites. Her landscapes appear to simultaneously emerge and dissolve... The starting points for her (oil) paintings are digital images that have been shot through the window of a moving car or bus, often when misted with rain or condensation. The images are translated into oil paintings, and explore the tension between figuration and abstraction and the way in which the viewer understands or perceives time and place.
